Our experienced team performs all surgical procedures for dogs and cats.
Your pet’s well-being is our primary concern and even more so when it comes to surgery. We use effective pain management methods and a rigorous anaesthetic protocol, and laser for all routine surgical interventions. This improves your pet’s recovery time, which takes from 10 to 14 days.
Compared to a scalpel blade, laser is very precise, resulting in very small wounds. Healing is thus accelerated, less painful for the animal and swelling is reduced. Because of the high temperature of the laser, the risk of infection is lowered since the heat destroys the bacteria. The laser also allows for better control of bleeding because it cauterizes the small blood vessels during the incision.
After surgery, if you notice that the area around the wound is red or swollen, or if there’s any discharge, contact us immediately.
Some pets don’t tolerate the Elizabethan collar, also known as a pet cone, since it can keep them from moving about easily. A jacket, one-piece pyjamas or doughnut collar could be alternatives for your pet. Your veterinarian can recommend the best option based on the area to be protected and your pet’s needs.
We discontinued this practice in January 2019, due to the pain and many complications it can cause. Please see the Behavioural Advice page to learn more about the declawing alternatives we encourage.
