Dr. Audet introduced acupuncture to our veterinary clinic in 2005. This natural science, which originated in China, has been around for thousands of years. Pet acupuncture is becoming more and more popular as the treatment is no longer used only on people.

What can acupuncture do for my pet?

What happens during an acupuncture session?

Our clinic has a dedicated acupuncture room. The veterinarian will first examine your pet to identify the imbalance(s) that need to be corrected. Animals have over 300 acupuncture points where hair-thin needles can be inserted to restore balance. The needles are flexible, so there’s no danger for your pet if they move a bit. Pets tolerate the needles well and many are very relaxed during the treatment and even fall asleep.

How many sessions are needed?

There’s usually a noticeable improvement after one or two treatments. The number of sessions varies depending on the condition being treated. Acupuncture can also be used preventively. In older animals, acupuncture gently reduces the suffering associated with lack of energy, joint pain and other signs of aging.
